What is a Smart Agent and Agentic AI?
A Smart Agent is an intelligent AI application that can independently interact with its environment to achieve a goal.
An example is a Customer Service Agent that uses knowledge of your business to answer customer, supplier or employee questions about your products, services or procedures. This can help human customer service representatives deal with enquires and log the details of each call or answer calls out of office hours.
Agentic AI is the application of customised Smart Agents to support business processes or activities. This could involve a single Agent or multiple Agents in a network, and includes the ability to access other systems or capabilities. Examples are on-boarding a client including performing checks and recording documentation or processing a mortgage application.
What are the benefits?

Where to start?
The first place to start is setting up some basic AI infrastructure! This will include an AI Playground in which your staff can experiment safely with AI! Key elements within the AI Playground are:

Host in a safe, secure online environment. Do not use open cloud based platforms! This ensure that any interactions and data are not exposed to unwanted third parties. - GDPR Compliant:
If GDPR compliance is required then host in Europe! Compliance with data protection regulations requires a set of measures for all IT systems and AI is not an exception. - Brand Customisation:
Tailor your environment to reflect your brand’s identity. - Data Integration:
Seamlessly access and utilize your data in a controlled manner with access authorisation. - Easy and Reliable:

This is known as a ‘Corporate’ AI environment and can make use of widely available tools such as ChatGPT or LAMA but hosted in a secure and safe environment.
What does an AI Playground look like?
We have set up a safe and secure, GDPR playground for consulting clients and participants in our learning paths. This is shown opposite. In this case the environment includes:
- A GPT prompting playground in which users can safely experiment with prompting
- A development environment which enables simple agents using system instructions
(this is similar to GPT’s in ChatGPT or Gems in Gemini etc). - A robust approach to enable Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and Fine Tuning
This is required for advanced Agents and Agents AI implementation.
In our environment we combine a playground, two simple Agents (Supply Chain, Diversity) and two advanced Agents which use RAG (Learning Buddy, EU AI Act). The EU AI Act is included in Agent Grace for Compliance!
Meet the easiest Agent to implement – ‘DoxAgent’
Hi – I am ‘Documents Agent’ – nicknamed DoxAgent – a simple Agent that learns from the knowledge that you give me – in one or many documents – and I can then act upon that knowledge and help you, your customers, suppliers, employees or partners with this knowledge.
Use cases for me are:
- Give me a document (or web page) and I can answer questions on that information
- Give me one or many documents and I can answer questions on the knowledge in that content
- Want to implement a policy? then train me on your policy and I will help users apply the policy
I work in a different way to ChatGPT/OpenAI ‘GPT’s or Gemini ‘Gems’! My token limits are much higher and I am trained using a special technique called RAG by the smart consultants at Axveco instead of automated generic loaders – that way I learn the knowledge in your documents and can easily outperform GPT’s and Gems…
The smart consultants train me to be fully compliant with GDPR, host me in Europe and ensure data privacy and protection of intellectual property in a separately hosted environment. Do you need to work with large document sets? No problem for me – I am trained using Retrieval Augmented Generation or even Fine Tuning to only answer questions in scope, answer them accurately and perform in a consistent and reliable manner.
